Before your first session, you will complete important documents that cover basic personal information, payment, and important policies. At your first session, expect your therapist to guide you through a discussion of your background, current issues, and goals for therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to ask your therapist any questions that will help you get your needs met.
Some people report feeling relief almost immediately - this is common when we finally feel understood, safe, and have hope for change. However, often, change is slower. The important thing is you've taken your first step toward healing and growth.

The relationship with your therapist is the most important factor in making progress in therapy. While a relationship takes time to form, it can be helpful to ask yourself: "Do I feel safe and comfortable sharing honestly with my therapist? Do I believe my therapist understands my concern? Do I believe my therapist wants what is best for me and is prepared to challenge and support me in getting there?
Your therapist will also check in with you about the relationship, and you are encouraged to bring up any concerns as you feel comfortable.

Yes! Finding the right therapist can take time, and not every therapist is the right fit for every person. We encourage you to let us know. if you are feeling like something isn’t a good fit. You do not need to worry about hurting or protecting us. Our goal is to not keep you in therapy with us, but to help you find the best way towards the personal growth and healing you want and need. We are happy to provide referrals or help you connect to another therapist that will be more helpful for you.

You’re not alone. Many people begin therapy after feeling disappointed by previous experiences. You may have felt misunderstood, judged, unsupported, or simply like therapy wasn’t helping.
A past negative experience doesn’t mean therapy can’t be helpful. The relationship between therapist and client matters, and finding the right fit can make a significant difference.
We welcome conversations about what did and didn’t work for you in the past. Our goal is to provide a collaborative, supportive environment where you feel respected, understood, and actively involved in your care.

No. Some people just know that something doesn’t feel right, but don’t know where to start. Some people know but have a hard time talking about it, which is when treatments like EMDR or sand tray can be helpful in being able to process without using words.
You do not need to have everything figured out on what you need to talk about. This is what we are here for!

If you are reading this question, you don’t need to convince us. The fact that you are wondering whether it might be helpful is enough.
You don’t need to reach a certain level of suffering to deserve support. If it’s bothering you, its worth talking about.

How long therapy is depends on many factors like your goals, how you engage in the process between sessions, and even what stressors occur while in therapy. Other factors that can impact are financial and insurance, which we will always try to work with you to make therapy as accessible as possible.
Some people are in therapy for short term around a specific concern. Some choose to stay longer for ongoing support and growth.

Yes! You can bring any of these if it helps you feel comfortable or help you focus.
Pets are welcome in some cases but this has to be discussed first with your therapist. We need to be mindful of other clients who may be working through topics related to animals like trauma or grief.
If you are uncomfortable with dogs or other animals please inform your therapist and we will ensure that there are no animals in the office on those days.

We are in network with some insurance plans and continuing to add more. Insurance coverage may vary by clinician.
If we are not in network with your insurance, you may still use your out of network benefits. We use Thrizer to help you check and use your out of network benefits.
Superbills are always available through your client portal if you would rather submit claims on your own.
Private Pay
Some clients choose to pay privately rather than use insurance. Private pay allows for greater flexibility in treatment and is not limited by insurance requirements related to diagnosis, frequency of sessions, or authorization.
Certain types of work—such as longer or extended sessions, or more specialized therapeutic work—may not be covered by insurance and are typically provided on a private pay basis when clinically appropriate.
We are happy to provide a superbill for eligible services if you choose to use out-of-network benefits, though many clients prefer private pay for simplicity and flexibility.
We are always happy to talk through what option may be the best fit for your needs.
